Make it Happen Monday!

Happy Monday, people! I don't know if we could start the week off on a more beautiful foot. 'Tis the perfect fall day and it kind of makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside biggrin Mother nature is on my good side, for now...

So how amazing were yesterdays sammies? dangggg. I seriously considered some midnight PB&Strawberry sandwich action but controlled myself because I was actually quite full from this bowl o' love...

banana soft serve with cocoa powder
spooky s'more zbar (!!)
creme de whipped
I like it, I love it, I want s'more of it.

Other than that go0o0odness, I don't have too much else to share with you guys.. unless of course you want to hear about Beowulf as a representation of Anglo-Saxon culture, because then I could go on for hours. I have literally been living in my text books plowing out essays like it's my job (um, yeah..that'd be the worst job ever) When did my life become so glamorous? Ah well, at least I have this weekend to look forward to -- when I may or may not be going to visit a certain husky that I adore wink.

Let's switch gears a bit...

After a little blog-reflection I realize my blog has kind of been a snoozefest as of late, to which I apologize wholeheartedly. I decided that in order to bring some depth in to my posts, because I realize it rarely has any, I'm going to implement yet another fun weekly concept. Yeah, you thought I was in the library doing work.. I was in fact thinking of new bloggie ideas.

When I used to see my therapist we came up with the idea for me to create weekly goals for myself. It could have been something as huge as challenging myself to a scoop of ice cream, or something smaller like adding a few nuts to a meal or eating my mom's cooking, etc. Since then I have remained consistent with my goal planning - but now it has translated in to all aspects of my life. Example: Last weekend my goal was...

"Try a new yoga class"

I felt like I was in a yoga rut and felt like my practice was redundant and boring (gasp!) So, I decided to switch it up with a Dave Farmar podcast which all be honest, wasn't my favorite -- but alas, it was new and exciting! Mission accomplished lol

Why am I sharing all of this with you? a.) because I have nothing else to talk about and b.) because I think goals are super important regardless of how big or small they are. They keep us accountable, they keep us motivated, and most importantly -- they provide an amazing feeling of self-satisfaction when we accomplish them.. who doesn't love that?

SO, long[er than necessary] story short - I would love for all of you to join me with my weekly goals in a little blog challenge I shall call *Make it Happen Monday*. Each Monday I'll share with you all my goal for the week and I would be HONORED if you set up goals for yourselves and shared them with me biggrin.

So I'll get the ball rollin'.. this week my goal is:

"To make it a point to talk to one new person in my Spanish Class"

One of my best girlfriends at SHU is in my spanish class, so we kind of cling to eachother and I don't know anyone else in the class... so! This week I'm going to make sure to talk to at least one other person and get to know them, because new friends are funnnn!

C'mon bloggaaaays.. don't be shy! What is your goal for this week?

Hey Jenny..that bowl of bananay/smore goodness looks divine! I also loved the sammie post :)

Your make it happen monday is a great idea! And I think it is a great goal to get to know someone in your spanish class :)

I guess my goal for the week would be to get off my bum even after working 8 hours a day and continue my hour of cardio! YEP! EVERY DAY. If the 400 pound people on biggest loser can do it...then so can I :) That is definitely my motivation. Ha! Yesterday I got in 5k on the treadmill and I'm hoping today will be no different!

have a fab day love!

If it makes you feel any better, I know more about Chaucer and The Canterbury Tales then...well...Chaucer himself ;-) I have to read it all the time!!!!

Great post girl! I love the idea of setting goals, and I think it gives us something wonderful to work toward every week.

I am going to work on a little bit of acceptance in my yoga classes this week. My mind often wanders during class and I find myself have lots of anxious thoughts. I am going to try my best to 'let go' of those thoughts, even for just 1 min a class :-)

Thanks love!

P.S. Your blog is NEVER a snooze fest!!

maybe I will copy youu? ;)

Your blog is ALWAYS ever-so-readable and interesting!! Def not a snooze-fest haha...

I LOVE this post too. You're absolutely right that every single goal, whether big or small, is something to keep us moving toward something and stay motivated. Its good to wake up every morning with SOME kind of goal for the day, week, whatever!

Yours is definitely a good one too!! Its always good to try and get to know someone new. new friends are excitinggg :)

I think my "goal" for the week is to make a little change in my workout routine. Fall is gorgeous around here and I spend every morning cooped up in the gym on the treadmill rather than outside enjoying my favorite season!!! I want to get outside for a loooong walk at some point this week so I can relax & take time to see the foliage :)

Oh P.S. Spooky Smores ZBars!? Say whattttt... where did you find those bebes?!?

great post j! i try to create a goal for myself each day :) because i like the feeling of accomplishment.

goal for the week = photograph in the most unconventional spots - and carry my camera around, not caring what others think.

hello lovely! I hope your Monday is going well :)

My goal for this week is to be thankful and grateful every day for what I have and to stop thinking about what I don't have.

I tend to get myself into funks if I'm thinking like that, so I just to focus on the things I have, be grateful for them and be happy.

Ok if you ever need yoga inspiration...please ask me!!!!!! Not that I am the end all be all :) but if you want me to pimp you up a little 30 min at home workout, by all means, I can do it soooo easy. Just email me what you wanna work on...more power/vinyasa, more restorative, a kickass workout, etc and then body part...core, arms, leg stuff, balance, inversions, etc. Please hollar!

My goals: change the name on my driver's license, get new passports for me and my daughter, and get new social security cards for us. It will be a week long of fun. Just like your essays :)

I love your positivity girl, it's awesomely contangious too fyi! What a great idea, my goal this week is going to be to spend more quality time with my boyfriend and less time with technology (i.e. computer/tv) since I think I tend to get wrapped up in that a lil' too much sometimes :) I love this idea, thanks!

& i love the idea of make it happen monday!
my goal for the week is to eat dinner in the food court with someone from my floor.
i've been stuck in a rut of hitting the salad bar and creating meals for myself in the comfort of my little dorm room, so i hope to change that this week :)

i really really like this. jenny you rock :)

GIRL get outta my head! I was just thinking today I need to start setting more concrete short-term goals. I start to feel overwhelmed with bigger goals and end up not doing anything!

My goal this week is to pick up after myself (yes I'm 23 and I still leave my clothes on the floor). When I rush out of the house for work in the morning I usually leave my make-up out, PJ's on the floor, and the house in disarray. It would only take a couple extra second to pick it up!

Phew that felt better ;) Have a great day!

Julie said...

you're oh-so-creative girl :) make it happen monday sounds like a great plan to me!

hmmmm I think my goal this week is to TRY and not have a mental breakdown when thinking about the amount of work I need to get done for school. Because I feel the anxiety coming haha

what a fab idea, Jenny! goals for the week are super important!! My goal for this week is to try to NOT be sarcastic to either of my parents. I tend to get edgy sometimes and snappy and somewhat sarcastic, this will NOT happen this week and should not happen at all anyways, SO thank you :)

Emma said...

Oh yes, Jenny. You are a complete snooze fest. I am always so bored with your posts. Its about time you stepped it up.*

*Denotes EXTREME sarcasm.

I am so, so jealous of pretty much everything you eat. ZBars - miss them. Banana soft-serve - don't have a blender. Sigh.

Your insight on goal setting is so pertinent to everyone - my goals? Keep up on my studying and eat one non-stir fry based meal. :)

This week, my goal is to learn the anatomy of animal skull. bones only :) but that's a lot, and my working week is actually only till saturday, so I'll have to make a lot of effort this two days :)

Jessica Joy Daly said...

I love this idea! I do it also every week.

This week, before I even read your post, I had decided on a "self-nurturing" goal of an hour of pampering for myself this week.

I already started that goal with a 30 minute bubble bath after my 8 hour work day today.

I am telling you, setting goals and following through does a lot for us!

You are precious. Hmmm, my goal of the week is to clean my room. Like ALL OUT clean it. I keep doing a little here and there--but I think I need an obnoxiously spic and span room to get my productivity on the right course... Haha I'm hoping :)

I have two goals for this week: To listen to my body and exercise when I want to, not because I feel like I need to burn more calories. And to get out of this food rut that I've been in recently, and try cooking/eating something new!

Your blog could never be boring:)

Love your goal...I don't know, maybe my goal is to eat a full meal without complaining...and trying to enjoy what I eat. OH YEAH :D

I know what you mean with school taking up a whole lot of space in your schedule and mind! It's pretty crazy, but we'll benefit from it in the long run. :)

I'm pretty iffy on those Dave Farmar podcasts myself. He's a wonderful instructor, but these podcasts are a bit awkward with just being taped live. A few of them aren't too bad though if you're willing to give a few more a try!
