a pictures worth a thousand words

top 'o the morning to ya pretty girls! hope you're doing swell
so I'm sure you're all dying to know how my picnic in the park with Ginge went, right?! ;) Well, I'll spare you the mushy gooshy details and go right to the important stuff.. what i wore. I decided to ahead and get dolled up for the occasion since it's such a rare occurence, so I threw on this little number.

floral print sundress from American Eagle

you may or may not recognize this dress from a little movie called High School Musical 3...

yeah, that was actually me staring in those movies..

**wakes up to reality**
anywayz, I do have a reason for showing you this dress other than finding an excuse to plug in pics of Z-eron, though that was a definite perk. So y'all remember this post where i mentioned a dress in my spring wardbrobe that used to fit like a potato sack and I was thrilled to see that it actually fit this summer? Welp, this is the dress! So, I decided to do a side by side comparison for you chicks.

*i know it looks like a totally different dress, but i assure you its not :)*
the left picture is from me last summer and the right picture is me, well.. last night. So, here's my change.. a year later, after gaining a substantial amount of weight... and i'l be honest, i don't see too much of a difference in my body, do you?! From an outside perspective looking at these pictures the only places where i notice a huge change are:
  • my face (though you can't really see that from this picture). In the left my eyes are sunken in, my face is frail and lifeless. Whereas now my face looks healthy and my cheeks are full.
  • my boobies! woo-wee. though I still might be a worthy cantidate for the itty bitty titty committee, I am definitely rockin' some clevage these days.. can i get an amen?!
  • my hair: so in the first picture we see i'm rockin' the scarecrow look.. not hot. My hair is limp, dry, and scraggly. Now-a-days, my hair is much thicker and voluminous.. lovez it!

moral of the story being, through the weight gain journey I understand that it is easy to begin scrutinizing your body with ED chirping in your ear. Try to take a step back and really admire your body, admire the changes, and embrace them. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, this process is about so much more than gaining weight.. so, i've decided i'm going to scratch the pounds bull$h!t (pardon my french) and just consider myself to be gaining health... can you dig it?!

alright well I am off to take my healthy face, boobiez, and hair to work :)
catch ya on the flip side, homegirls!

"Gaining health"- that is such a great way to look at it. I'm "gaining health" too, and this post was really reassuring for me that I will still look the same, in fact better, after I put on some health. You look great, girl! Have a fun Monday! =D

Love the dress, and you know? Aside from the happy GLOW and sparkling eyes, I don't see much difference body-wise. We are so much more tuned in to any body changes than are actually noticeable to an outsider!

Have an amazing Monday!

That is such a cute dress! It really looks great on you, and congrats on the return of the cleavage! If its any consolation, I am the poster girl for IBTC. Still wearing bras from the girls dept., but I will wear them proudly haha.

You're wonderful, Jenny! I love how inspiring and meaningful everything you post is. Pictures of me from 6 months ago are just scary (not weight wise because when bulimia is your BFF, you just yo-yo your way into terrible health without a lot of weight change). But I looked like I was dying. My face was pale, vacant, sagging, lifeless. My muscles looked weak and frail, as opposed to how strong and toned they are now. So, I definitely understand how it's about a journey of gaining health, not necessarily all about weight.

You look GORGY!!! I love the dress but what I love even more is your thoughts on the comparison! You're an all star, girlie! Love you!!

By the way, I found some new eye candy! I was perusing my On Demand and started watching Big Brother. Holy hotness!

Beautiful dress for a beautiful person :-) Congrats on all your changes (especially in the womanly area department ;-) )!!

cardiovegsular said...

a healthy face, boobies, and pretty hair are all magnificent things! i'm totally for saying "gaining health" instead of "gaining weight." weight is just a stupid number. health is what's truly important! and i couldn't be happier that you've gained so much health since the first picture. you're amazing, jenny. be super proud! :)

Bridget said...

Jenny you look AWESOME!!! First of all I just love that dress! The first pic I just thought you looked hot in a sun dress and then seeing the before and after it's crazy how amazing you look! Yay for boobies and thick hair :) You should be pumped and so proud!

I adore you! I adore this post, everything about it (I don't adore that I am the laziest blogger and am clearly reading and not posting but I will). This post is SO helpful to me as I am working w/ a new 'nutrish' who's theory is all about health and not focusing on the food/cals and I love it, so your post-age today is perfecto. I love the dress. can I get an autograph? Lil Joey B loves High School Musical, had I known you were a star I would have asked earlier! Hope you had a great day! I will be emailing you tomorrow to catch up-and yes I will be posting. Gotsta get my ass in gear-I think having a new nutrish on board and some things to actually talk about is helpful. Or perhaps I am destined to be a blog stalker? :/ ewww no! Later lovely. xo

Such a cute dress! You are adorable. Such a neat blog you have here a friend of mine told me about it so I thought I would check it out!

Baylee♥ said...

two words. GOR GEOUS!!! You can definately tell extreme (wonderful) changes in the two pictures, and the amazing changes you have made - you look SOOOO much prettier now.

I would've never believed it (because in ED's eyes, skinny was beautiful), but during ED, no matter how beautiful you are, ED make you ugly as hell. Ed has obviously left your life, because you are glowing girl!

Annabel www.FeedMeImCranky.com said...

I can't think of anything original to say -- you are, as everyone has said, absolutely stunning and RADIANT!

jesslikesithot said...

"itty bitty titty committee...." YOU ARE HILARIOUS.

And the dress is adorable girl, and you are such a gorgeous, gorgeous girl fillin' it outtttt!! You look so great, and be so proud of how far you've come. I love you!

Hey Jenny! I have been a reader of your blog since the beginning and I love reading every post. You are a great writer and an inspiration to me!

leslie said...

jenny, first of all, you are so gorgeous - no matter the weight. and also - you are so right. we obsess about gaining, and yet, the difference is not even discernible. all that i notice is how alive your face looks now compared to before. that's the real gain! :)

Peanut Butter Swirl said...

haha I was jut going to say your hair looks like it has so much more volume now (from other posts it looks SO shiny too!!)
you look beautiful and it was the perfect dress for a date with the boy. gorgeous girlie.

You look great and as long as you still feel great that's the most important part!

Julie said...

you look gorrrgeous girl! LOVE that dress and glad you had a great time with Ginge ;)

bananasun said...

You have come so far, and look so great!
That was such a motivating post for me, I am currently trying to come to terms a bit with my body as it becomes healthier, and while I know I am looking better and better, ED can make it hard to see that. But reading this post gave me new determination to stick to the healthier path, so soon I can start fitting into my summer dresses as well as you do!
Congratulations! and loovvee the dress :)

Jenny my love, I absolutely adored this post! Not only is that a stunning dress that looks amazing on you but it also resembles a very important message and story. I really think you make such a great point that you must embrace all the IMPROVEMENTS. You look so much better in this dress now and I agree that while your body really doesnt look that different, the changes in your face and hair are really noticeable. There is such a change in the amount of life and glow that's radiating from you now versus then. Youre simply amazing and I am so proud of you for absolutely everything you have accomplished through this process! You are a gem in every sense of the word! Absolutely stunning inside and out! love you girl

Love the dress, love HSM(Zac=major drool), and love how you are "gaining health" rather than gaining weight. Besides gaining health, your also gaining all the joys of everyday life back--rather than your focus always being on food, you can get back to enjoying things such as mushy picnics in the park!! :)
